METHOD 1: The serial number is located on the Side or top of the
stereo, Most
serial numbers are prefixed with a letter then usually six numbers.
Newer Ford stereos are prefixed with the letter 'V'.
We can supply codes for serial numbers prefixed by the following
letters.
Vxxxxxx
Mxxxxxx Axxxxxx
Cxxxxxx
Lxxxxxx
METHOD 2: The
serial number can also be shown on the radio display, without even
removing the radio, it doesn't work on every ford unit, but try this
method first, before removing the unit.
Switch radio on
Hold down button 6 then press button 2
or, hold button 2 and 6 together
or,
hold button 1 and 6 together
Hopefully you should see a series of text and numbers on the display,
you are looking for a six digit number that begins with M or V, this
only shows for a second, so it may be helpfull to take a video of it
with your phone.
If method 2 doesn't work, you will have to use method 1 and remove the
radio.
HOW TO REMOVE THE RADIO
To
remove your Ford radio, you will need a set of removal keys, these can
be purchased from ebay or car accessory shops. To remove the radio,
insert pins as shown and pull in the direction of the arrows and out at
the same time. Older Ford stereos use the round type pins.
